2017-2018  Volunteer Opportunities

Parents, we need your help! Anyone interested in volunteering will need to have an approved BISD Volunteer Application Packet. Please do this the first of August so that you are ready to help out when school begins. We will have the official volunteer requests in August. Thank you!

(1) Uniforms Assistant
Help Patricia Janecek with uniform fitting, maintenance, and organization throughout the year. It would be great if this person were available starting in August and for at least one afternoon each week.

(2) Uniform Baggers (one afternoon the week of an out-of-town game)
We meet at the uniform room a day prior to an out-of-town game and bag the uniforms for the students. We usually do this while the kids are at their after school marching practice.

(2) Uniform Room Parents (after games)
The uniform room is divided up into two smaller rooms so each parent would be assigned a half. The duty is to meet us at the school after every football game to assist students with returning their uniform to their proper slot (basically finding their name and putting up all the pieces). We return to the school at 10:30pm or later for out of town games. The students are tired and basically sleepwalking through these duties and it would be great if we had two parents helping out. Volunteers will be notified via text from the Volunteer Coordinator with the expected time of arrival. This volunteer opportunity would be great for those parents who need to be at the school to pick up their non-driving students after the games. If for any reason, the volunteers cannot meet us after a game, they would be responsible for finding subs.

(1 of 4 open) Uniform Laundry Parents
These folks would wash the uniforms at home after every other game. An easy uniform laundry procedure will be given. They would be responsible for the same 1/4 of uniforms throughout the year and would have assistance upon returning the uniforms to the uniform room. We can drop off and pick up the laundry bags from your home if needed. Must be a smoke-free home with own washer and dryer.

(4) Seamstress
Available as needed to help with hemming and/or uniform maintenance. If you are not available to be at the school during summer and/or after school hours, the uniforms could be delivered to your home.

(10+) Dinner Parents
(1) Dinner Contact
For the away games, the Band Boosters usually order pizza for an afternoon snack (dinner for some of the kids.) We would like a group of parents to be responsible for providing the supplemental food for the meal. Such as: whole fruit (apples, oranges), bagged fruit (grapes, strawberries, sliced watermelon), 50 bags of chips each and/or 3 dozen cookies each. The Dinner Contact would be notified by the Volunteer Coordinator of the upcoming need(s) with enough time to organize the Dinner Parents for contributions. This is a great opportunity for those who are unable to help in person for any reason. If for the needs are not met for a particular game, then the Volunteer Coordinator would ask for assistance from all parents.

Chaperones
A list for chaperones requests (games, parades, competition) will be available in August.
